Leo for agents

Leo with Codex

Codex reasons on your own ChatGPT plan, on your machine, and works in Leo through the MCP server or the CLI.

Add Leo to Codex

Terminal

codex mcp add leo --url https://www.leo.co.ke/mcp
codex mcp login leo

The login opens Leo in your browser to approve Codex for one workspace, or several you choose, with the scopes you choose. Codex keeps the tokens; Leo never sees your ChatGPT sign-in.

After connecting, start a new chat in the app so it loads Leo's tools. A chat that was already open cannot see them, and an agent without them may try to use Leo's website as you, which records its work as yours.

~/.codex/config.toml, with a personal token instead

[mcp_servers.leo]
url = "https://www.leo.co.ke/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "LEO_TOKEN"

Working in Leo

  • Ask Codex to "continue the Leo task <id>". It reads the task's context package, starts a run, reports progress, publishes what it produces and finishes or hands on.
  • The MCP prompts continue_task, reconstruct_project and hand_off teach it the order of work.
  • In a terminal, Codex can also drive the CLI with LEO_TOKEN and LEO_RUNTIME=codex.

Cost and privacy

Codex's reasoning runs on your ChatGPT plan. Leo charges no credits for it, and never holds or relays your ChatGPT credentials.
